Tour Details
At 8:30 AM on departure day, our tour guide will pick you up in the center of Khe Sanh town and take you to the Jungle Boss office. Here, you will be introduced to the tour itinerary, listen to safety regulations, sign a Release form, and receive necessary safety equipment before departing.
After getting ready, the group will travel by car for about 20 minutes from Khe Sanh town to the first hiking spot in Huong Linh commune, Huong Hoa district - a western region of Quang Tri province characterized by vast Formosan gum forests. The Formosan gum forest is adorned with a vibrant red and orange coat during the leaf-changing season. You will start hiking with a total distance of 9.5km, following a trail to Dinosaur Ridge, where the scenery is incredibly spectacular with overlapping mountain ranges, overlooking wind turbine fields, and in the distance, the poetic Rao Quan lake. Along the way, the guide will introduce the group to the characteristics of the local flora as well as stories about the heroic history of the legendary Khe Sanh battle.
The final section from the peak to the foot of the mountain is quite steep, so guests should move carefully and use hiking poles for safety and to reduce pressure on the knees.
After reaching the foot of the mountain, a motorboat will take the group to a campsite in the middle of Rao Quan lake. On this journey, you will admire the pristine and poetic beauty of this place. Around 2:00 PM, the group will arrive at the Rao Quan campsite, enjoying lunch with local specialties prepared by native chefs.
After lunch, you can freely explore, swim, or paddleboard. In the afternoon, the boat will continue to take you back to the parking lot where Jungle Boss’s van awaits and enjoy optional cold drinks. Afterward, the car will take the whole group back to Khe Sanh town, ending a day full of discoveries in the western region of Quang Tri.
All meals during the tour are prepared by Jungle Boss's team of cooks and porters. The ingredients are carefully selected and prepared deliciously, with rich flavors. You can refer to the menu below:
- Snacks: peanut butter sandwiches, dried foods, fruits, bottled water.
- Lunch: cơm lam (bamboo cooked rice), grilled pork in bamboo tubes, grilled chicken with chili salt, fruits and vegetables, 1 unit of beverage (beer or coke).
Huong Hoa is a district in Quang Tri province. It has a tropical monsoon climate with two distinct seasons: rainy and dry. The rainy season starts from September to December, which is also when the lush green maple leaves spread wide, casting shadows on the clear, calm lake, creating a beautiful watercolor painting.
During this time, from October to January, the maple forest changes color, from green to yellow, orange, and then bright red, creating a colorful natural picture. Therefore, if you want to admire the vibrant palette with the poetic red-tinged orange color of the maple forest, come here from the end of December to January!
