Our tours offer campsites situated in proximity to beautiful crystal-clear rivers, and lakes, giving guests the freedom to enjoy a refreshing swim. The dedicated Jungle Boss team assumes the vital role of lifeguards to guarantee the safety of all customers. As part of our commitment to preserving natural resources, the use of traditional shampoo or conditioner in rivers or pools is strictly prohibited. Instead, we kindly ask our guests to use environmentally-friendly, biological shampoo throughout their journey, which will be provided on tour.

Toilet on Tour

Most of Jungle Boss tour is set in the deep jungle without modern amenities. To protect the environment and maintain cleanliness, we offer Jungle Composting Toilet that are inside a tent and consist of a regular toilet seat on top of a box. Inside the box, there's a waste bucket. Nearby, you'll find provided toilet paper a container of rice husks. After using the toilet, cover your waste with a scoop of rice husks to keep things odor-free and prevent insects. Once the buckets are full, our team will replace them and bury the waste in a designated spot in the jungle. It will naturally break down and become fertilizer. Please use these toilets for both urination and defecation to maintain cleanliness and preserve the environment. Urinating outside or in the caves is not allowed to avoid odors and harm to the cave ecosystem. We also provide dry hand sanitizer.

Weather Condition

Phong Nha Ke Bang has 4 seasons with Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, it also experiences a monsoon tropical climate, with two distinct seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season spans from September to March, while the dry season stretches from April to August. During the rainy season, temperatures can drop as low as 17°C, with January being the coldest month. In contrast, the dry season can bring higher temperatures, with May usually recording the highest temperatures, but most of it is reduced when visitors are in the jungle and the caves exploring, as it might drop to the temperature around 23°C.

When you visit Phong Nha in each season, you'll always witness a unique beauty. If you choose to visit during the rainy season, the waterfalls in the jungle and the calcite lakes inside the caves will be exceptionally beautiful and full, allowing you to capture memorable photos. On the other hand, if you opt for the dry season, your trekking routes in the jungle will be drier and more manageable. Throughout the year, we are at our most beautiful status from April to May when the weather is dry, cool, and the scenery is at its finest.

Travel Options to Phong Nha

Pick your own travel options to get to Phong Nha Town, where most likely you are going to rent your accommodation. You can either use private cars, sleeping bus, train, or flights.

You are going to land at Dong Hoi airport which isaround 40km South from Phong Nha. From here you can use Jungle Boss private car service, or catch a taxi at the airport.

Arrived at Dong Hoi train station. You can use Jungle Boss private car service, or catch a taxi at the airport, or using Dong Hoi - Phong Nha bus (one in every 1 hour).

We planned to visit the National Park in Phong Nha in our trip to Vietnam. It was for sure one of the best decisions we made. We booked a full day trip with the Jungle Boss company. I already read about them in the Lonely Planet guide and also our hotel in Phong Nha recommended them. We chose the Elephant Cave and Ma Da Valley jungle trek. It was indescribable. Just amazing. All the jungle views and paths, arrive to the Elephant cave and be able to go inside and cross it, it left me without words. Then, we walked until the Ma Da lake where we had our lunch prepared by the chef Meo (bbq meat with spring rolls) that felt like a prize after some hours of walk. After lunch, we resume our walking until a cave full of water. We were equipped with headlamps and life jackets that allow us to swim inside the cave. It was also one of a life time experiences. A complete surprise for me. All the team in Jungle Boss was very professional. We were two people and the experience was very personalized to us. Quan was our tour guide and you could feel all the jungle knowlege and experience he has, guiding us during all the trek and explaining curiosities, history and showing some small animals we crossed over the path. Hao was our safety guide that was with us all the time, checking and ensuring our safety as first priority. Khoa (Training) was also a fantastic help. If you like trekking, love nature and want to have a unique experience, Jungle Boss is the perfect partner for you. You will need to have some phisical conditioning as you will need to walk for several hours and there are some parts that they are a little bit technical. But all the team from Jungle Boss will be there for helping you. You will feel part of a family. Personally, we went to Phong Nha to take part exclusively in this trekking and it was really worth it. Never seen before such beautiful landscapes. I'm super happy to had the chance to live this experience and to meet the incredible team of Jungle Boss. I would 100% recommend it.

Review Booking and Cancellation Policy: Before finalizing, review our booking and cancellation policy for clarity. In rare instances, if a tour must be canceled due to factors such as extreme weather, insufficient bookings, or unexpected events, Jungle Boss will offer a full refund or rescheduling options. ONE-DAY TOURS

• 100% Refund: If the customer cancels the service 3 days before the tour departure date.

• 50% Refund: If the customer cancels the service 24 hours before the tour departure date.

• No Refund: If the customer cancels the service within 24 hours of the tour departure date.

• Customers can change their service selection: If the customer submits a change request 3 days before the tour departure date, subject to the availability of the tour.

POLICIES FOR ALL TOURS

• Booking Confirmation: From the date of receiving the confirmation email, customers are kindly requested to make a deposit or full payment within 03 days to confirm the booking. If payment is not made within the specified time frame, Jungle Boss Tours reserves the right to cancel the booking without prior notice.

• Request Method: Cancellation and service change requests will only be accepted via email or message sent to Jungle Boss Tours' contact address.

• Force Majeure (Customer): In the event that a customer is forced to return during the tour for any reason, Jungle Boss will not provide a refund or any additional compensation. Any travel or other incurred expenses (if any) will be the responsibility of the customer.

• Itinerary Changes: If there is any perceived threat to the safety of the group, our tour guide reserves the right to modify the itinerary accordingly.

• Force Majeure (Jungle Boss Tours): Jungle Boss Tours reserves the right to unilaterally cancel tours due to force majeure events such as weather conditions, epidemics, natural disasters, fire, floods, earthquakes, war, or terrorism. In such cases, Jungle Boss Tours will provide a 100% refund of the tour price paid by the customer and will not be liable for any related expenses such as transportation, accommodation, meals, or other costs incurred by the customer.

• Cancellation Due to Weather: In the specific case of tour cancellation due to weather conditions, Jungle Boss Tours will notify customers as soon as possible and offer the following alternative options:

o Jungle Boss Tours may change the departure date at no additional cost.

o Jungle Boss Tours may offer an alternative tour not affected by the weather conditions. Customers will receive a refund for the price difference if the alternative tour is cheaper, or will be required to pay the price difference if the alternative tour is more expensive than the original booking.

o Jungle Boss Tours will provide a 100% refund of the tour price if the customer does not agree to the above options.

What should I notice during the tours?

You have to be responsible for the environment. All illegal activities are forbidden. Do not separate from the group, do not jump on rocks or rotten trees, watch your steps, respect the local customs. Please read the environmental protection rules and survival rules here.

Is there any toilet during the tours?

Yes. There are composting toilets at all campsites. Please talk to your tour guide for instructions.

Am I allowed to join tours if I can not swim?

Yes, you are. You will be equipped with a life jacket. There is also a safety assistant to help you. Rubber boat is available on some overnight tours. Please read Cave Swimming Skills HERE for more information.

Am I allowed to use chemical shampoo?

No. all chemical shampoo or shower gels are not allowed in Jungle Boss tours. Please use the organic ones. Jungle Boss do provide organic soap.

How to avoid thunderstorms & lightning during the tours?

We acknowledge the potential risks associated with thunderstorms and lightning strikes, which can cause severe harm or even fatalities among hikers annually. While direct lightning strikes are rare, the dangers of indirect strikes demand serious attention. Our priority is to educate on how to prevent exposure to lightning and how to respond in case of proximity to it.

Jungle Boss has developed a comprehensive risk management protocol designed by our experts specifically to mitigate the risk of lightning during tours. We urge all participants to thoroughly review and follow the provided instructions for maximum safety here.

INFORMATION ABOUT Elephant Cave & Ma Da Valley Jungle Trek 1D

After exploring Elephant Cave, the team will hike the jungle trail, cross rivers, and balance across fallen trees. Deep into Ma Da Valley you and the team will go until you reach the heavenly blue waters of Ma Da Crystal Lake.

Here you and the team will have the opportunity to take a swim, do some cliff jumping, and enjoy a delicious Jungle BBQ prepared by your porter (vegan options also available). With full bellies and feeling refreshed you and the team will gear up and continue on the jungle hike.

A few kilometers down the trail and a couple of river crossings later the team will come upon a large bend in the river and a staging area for the swim into Tra Ang Cave. After a short scramble up some limestone rocks, you will reach the cool waters of Tra Ang Cave and begin the 600m swim into the furthest depths of the cave.
