Kong Collapse Top Adventure is probably the most challenging adventure in Vietnam.  It requires long hours of hiking through the hard terrains deep in heart of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.

Only few people have been conquered Kong’s eye with 100 m abseiling. This expedition is an awesome combination of jungle hiking, rock scrambling, swimming cave, underground camping and abseiling. 

No other trek in Vietnam has done cave abseil so far, so this is an interesting adventure to challenge yourself. This trek is NOT for everyone, but for most people who are passionate at conquering the top of adventure for a life-time experience. 

You will be have one day of safety training and three days in the jungle to explore caves.

What To Expect

This expedition is into the depth of the primary jungle where you will explore the whole system of Tiger Cave including Pygmy cave, hang Over cave and Tiger cave. These three caves used to be one long cave which was divided by the dolines known as sinkhole or collapse. You will have chance to experience the jungle inside the cave while camping in it. Hang Pygmy is recognized as the fourth largest cave in the world with huge entrance which is 100m tall and wide. Kong Collapse, 450m deep is one of the deepest sinkhole on earth which was re-explored by Jungle Boss team in 2019 & 2020. You will be one of the very first people step into this untouched underground secrete.

As this is a very challenging adventure which requires a lot of caving technique. You will be training by Jungle Boss safety expert before setting off for the jungle.


Day 1: Arrival & Technical training

You will be picked from Dong Hoi or Phong Nha area to Homestay in Phong Nha village on your arrival. Prepare for the journey!

14:30 Pick up for the technical training at Jungle Boss Headquarter

14:30 – 17:30 Technical training. You will be instructed by our safety expert on single rope technique (SRT), how to do a safe abseil and go through a transverse line. And practice abseiling at Jungle Boss training station

18:00 Welcome dinner. Transfer back to the homestay after dinner. 

Day 2: Phong Nha - Road 20 Victory - Pygmy cave. Distance: 9km

8:30 Pick up from Homestay and transfer to Jungle Boss Headquarter for rechecking hiking gears and personal equipment. 

9:15 Depart the journey into the depth. Drive along Road 20 Victory for about 45 minutes to the start point of the trekking route at km 25. 

10:00 Start hiking into the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. The start is pretty easy down hill but the terrain will change continuously after 1 hour of hiking. You will be hiking up and down hill for the next 1 hour to the flat area names park 25. 

12:00 Stop for lunch to recharge the energy at park 25. Good time for rest and some beautiful photos of the jungle at this section. 

13:00 Keep going on the journey to Pygmy cave. The deeper the harder! You may pass some water if it rains.

14:00 The terrains is getting hard toward Grass Slope “Dốc Cỏ”. Grass Slope is very steep and slippery. There will be vines and trees for handrails. 

15:30 Arrive at the huge entrance of Pygmy cave where your basecamp for the night. 

15:30 – 17:00 Photo time, many good spots for photos and video records of this awesome cave. There will be a lot of daylight and trees right inside the cave as you camp at the entrance. 

17:00 – 18:00 Swim time in Pygmy to clean up and refresh

18:00 – 21:30 Dinner, chill, talk and make friends with the local porter

21:30 Bed time

Day 3: Pygmy cave - hang Over cave - Kong Collapse. Caving day & 3km of jungle hike

8:00 Breakfast at the basecamp in Pygmy cave

9:00 Set off to explore through 800m of Pygmy cave. The first half of Pygmy cave is pretty easy when you will walk on the floor of the cave. However, the second half of Pygmy cave is quite challenging. There will be a vertical climb of 10 m from the bottom to the top of a passage names Dinosaur Spike. After that you will be going through a transverse line the Spike along a deep pitch for about 150m.

10:00 Reach the first doline between Pygmy cave and hang Over cave. You will be in a jungle inside the cave. Go through the jungle to the exit of hang Over cave. Hang Over is 3,2 km long with a lot of strange formations. 

10:30 Arrive at Massive Attack passage in hang Over cave which is 125 m wide. There are plenty spots for photos in Massive Attack. 

10:30 – 11:00 Explore the Massive Attack.

11:00 – 12:30 Keep exploring the rest of hang Over to reach the second doline between Tiger cave and hang Over cave. 

12:30 Lunch will be served at the entrance of hang Over where you can enjoy the silence of the tropical jungle. 

13:00 Walk out of the jungle to reach Kong’s eye. This will require about one hour of hiking from hang Over cave to the right eye of Kong.  

14:00 Arrive at the eye of the monster! Time to have fun. Gear up for the 100m abseil

14:00 – 14:30 Gear double check before let go!

14:30 Start the first abseil of 30m from the back of the eye into the jungle inside the eye. You can hang on rope for amazing photo shoots from this angle. After landing in the eye of Kong, you will follow a transverse line to go over boulders and trees to reach the last section of the eye where the second drop will start

15:00 Start the second drop of 70 m from the eye of Kong down to the bottom where your basecamp is. This will be a big drop, please get ready! Don’t go too fast! 

17:00 Everyone will be down at the bottom of Kong Collapse. 

17:00 – 18:30 Chill time, photo shoot, swim in the river by the campsite in Kong

 18:30 – 21:30 Dinner, night photos, relax

21:30 Bed time    

Day 4: Kong Collapse - Tiger cave - Road 20 Victory - Phong Nha. Distance: 11 km

8:00 Breakfast at basecamp

8:00 – 9:00 Photo shoot of Kong Collapse. Abseil from the Turtle rock in Kong (optional)

9:00 – 10:00 Explore Tiger cave. There will be some sections require to swim. Get ready to be wet! The longest swim will be 300 m.

10:00 Start hiking toward Eel fish slope “Dốc Lươn” from Tiger cave. This is quite a steep but short hill. 

10:30 Pass the Eal fish slope to continue hiking out of the jungle. The way back require a lot of energy as there will be quite a lot of uphill trek. 

12:00 Snack lunch will be served on the Wind top where you can get breezing, fresh air to cool down.

12:30 Keep hiking through the hard terrain trails to reach Road 20 Victory. 

14:30 Arrive at km 24th of Road 20 Victory to enjoy cold drink before going back to Phong Nha by bus. 

16:00 Arrive at Jungle Boss Headquarter. Clean up. End journey

What To Bring

  • Two sets of long trousers & long-sleeved-shirt to avoid poison ivies and mosquitoes
