Kong Collapse Top Adventure is probably the most challenging adventure in Vietnam. It requires long hours of hiking through the hard terrains deep in heart of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.
Only few people have been conquered Kong’s eye with 100 m abseiling. This expedition is an awesome combination of jungle hiking, rock scrambling, swimming cave, underground camping and abseiling.
No other trek in Vietnam has done cave abseil so far, so this is an interesting adventure to challenge yourself. This trek is NOT for everyone, but for most people who are passionate at conquering the top of adventure for a life-time experience.
You will be have one day of safety training and three days in the jungle to explore caves.
What To Expect
This expedition is into the depth of the primary jungle where you will explore the whole system of Tiger Cave including Pygmy cave, hang Over cave and Tiger cave. These three caves used to be one long cave which was divided by the dolines known as sinkhole or collapse. You will have chance to experience the jungle inside the cave while camping in it. Hang Pygmy is recognized as the fourth largest cave in the world with huge entrance which is 100m tall and wide. Kong Collapse, 450m deep is one of the deepest sinkhole on earth which was re-explored by Jungle Boss team in 2019 & 2020. You will be one of the very first people step into this untouched underground secrete.
As this is a very challenging adventure which requires a lot of caving technique. You will be training by Jungle Boss safety expert before setting off for the jungle.
Note: This tour is NOT for people who have cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, asthma, osteoarthritis or acrophobia. Customers will be required to provide health statement report and made a health check by Jungle Boss Medical Experts before departure.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Technical training
You will be picked from Dong Hoi or Phong Nha area to Homestay in Phong Nha village on your arrival. Prepare for the journey!
8:30 Pick up for the technical training at Jungle Boss Headquarter
9:00 – 12:00 Technical training at Jungle Boss training station
12:00 Lunch
14:30 – 17:30 Technical training. You will be instructed by our safety expert on single rope technique (SRT), how to do a safe abseil and go through a transverse line. And practice abseiling at Jungle Boss training station
18:00 Welcome dinner. Transfer back to the homestay after dinner.
Day 2: Phong Nha - Road 20 Victory - Lower entrance of Tiger Cave. Distance: 11km
8:30 Pick up from Homestay and transfer to Jungle Boss Headquarter for rechecking hiking gears and personal equipment.
9:15 Depart the journey into the depth. Drive along Road 20 Victory for about 45 minutes to the start point of the trekking route at km 24.
10:00 Start hiking into the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. The start is pretty easy down hill but the terrain will change continuously after 1 hour of hiking. You will be hiking up and down hill for the next 1 hour to Doc Gio.
12:30 Stop for lunch to recharge the energy at Doc Gio Good time for rest and some beautiful photos of the jungle at this section.
13:30 Keep going on the journey to Tiger cave. The deeper the harder! You may pass some water if it rains.
14:00 The terrains is getting hard toward Grass Slope “Dốc Lươn”. Dốc Lươn is very steep and slippery. There will be vines and trees for handrails.
16:00 Arrive at the lower entrance of Tiger Cave and start swimming into the cave
16:00 – 16:30 Swim at the lower passage of Tiger cave
17:00 – 18:00 Prepare campsite at Tiger cave
18:00 – 21:30 Dinner, chill, talk and make friends with the local porter
21:30 Bed time
Day 3: Explore the secretes of Kong. 3km trek
8:00 Breakfast at the basecamp
9:00 Set off to walk up to Kong’s eye for the 100-m-abseil
10:00 – 15:00 Abseil into the bottom of Kong Collapse
15:00 – 17:00 Explore the back entrance of Tiger Cave and the extension passages of Kong
17:00 – 18:30 Chill time, photo shoot, swim in the river by the campsite in Kong
18:30 – 21:30 Dinner, night photos, relax
21:30 Bed time
Day 4: Kong Collapse - Tiger cave - hang Over cave - hang Pygmy. A day underground
8:00 Breakfast at basecamp
8:00 – 9:00 Photo shoot of Kong Collapse. Abseil from the Turtle rock in Kong (optional)
9:00 – 10:00 Explore Tiger cave. There will be some sections require to swim. Get ready to be wet!
10:00 Start exploring hang Over, the longest cave of the Tiger cave system. This will requires an exploration through 3,2m in the dark ness.
12:00 Lunch will be served inside hang Over cave
13:00 Keep exploring hang Over to reach the Massive Attack passage in hang Over. This passage is 125m wide and 80m high. Many chances for amazing photos.
14:00 Trek through the jungle inside hang Pygmy and hang Over to start exploring the fourth largest cave in the world.
14:30 – 16:00 You will be following a safety line along hang Pygmy to reach Dinosaur Spike passage. This section will require a 15-m-abseil into the bottom of Pygmy cave.
16:00 – 18:00 Keep exploring Pygmy cave, photo shoot and go swimming in the secrete pool inside Pygmy cave.
18:00 – 21:00 Dinner time, chill at campsite
Day 5: Hang Pygmy - Road 20 Victory. 9km trek
8:00 Breakfast and cleaning up camp you will exit the cave system and begin the half day trek home.
9:00 Start trekking out of hang Pygmy entrance to reach different valleys and mountains
This will be a long trek out of the jungle with difficult terrain
10:30 Arrive a “Doc Co” known as grass slope which is quite slippery and steep hill. This hill will kill a lot of energy.
If it rains, you may have chance to see some water falls on the way
12:00 Some snack lunch will be provided during the trek
14:00 Arrive at the road to enjoy cold drink before the van arrive and transfer you back to Jungle Boss headquarter.
15:00 Arrive at Jungle Boss headquarter, check in Homestay, clean up.
18:00 Gala Dinner
What To Bring
